When You Want To Give Up

We often start our adult life with a vision of how we want it to turn out, but often times we face adversity and problems that bury that vision.  Keeping our eyes on the Jesus owever, can change how we see everything.  In Today’s Bible Thought we talk about perseverance with Pastor Paul Luna.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” Hebrews 12:1-2

Who Keeps Their Promises?

Does God really remember all the promises he makes? If He does remember them all, then does he keep them all. Several times in the book of Deuteronomy, God reminds Moses that he remembers what he told his fore fathers.

“See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—and to their descendants after them.” Deuteronomy 1:8

A Lifetime Commitment

I apologize for the sound problem for the first 30 seconds.

Leading someone through the sinner’s prayer is only the beginning.  Leading someone through the sinner’s prayer is only the beginning Jesus called us to “make disciples.” If all we strive for is to get people to say the sinner’s prayer, then Jesus tells us to “go therefore and make disciples,” and the way He calls us to do it is by, “Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and  Making disciples is a long term relational commitment. We are to lead people to become followers of Christ and then spend a lifetime teaching them to obey all that Jesus Christ said.

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

What God Calls You to Do

Following God’s lead, we are to love God and love others (Matt. 22:36-40). Paul calls followers of Christ in 1 Cor. 13 to lead people to Christ by showing Christ’s love to individuals. When it is asked why we live the way we do, we simply share our hope in Christ and His good news. We are called to love our neighbors regardless if they are or will ever become followers of Christ.

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:36-40

What Did God Create You For?

Pastor Paul Luna discusses what are you made to do.  Each of us have a skill or talent and God empowers you to use those abilities to reach people for Him.

“1 Then the Lord said to Moses, 2 “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, 3 and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— 4 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, 5 to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.” Exodus 31:1:5

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:10
